Digital Download FAQ
General
What are digital downloads?
Digital downloads are high-resolution image files that you can purchase and receive instantly via email or direct download. Once purchased, you’ll be able to use the file based on the type of license you choose—personal use or commercial use.
What is a Personal Use License?
A Personal Use License grants you the right to use the image for non-commercial, private enjoyment — including printing for your home, office, or as a gift (up to 48×32 inches), use as desktop or phone wallpaper, or creating personal vision boards and inspiration spaces.
Your download includes:
- A full-resolution TIFF, optimized for printing through online professional photo labs like WhiteWall.
- A high-quality JPEG, ideal for digital frames or device backgrounds
You may not resell, relicense, or use the image for business, branding, or commercial purposes. The file may not be shared, redistributed, or included in any product for sale.
What is a Personal Plus License?
The Personal Plus License is designed for individuals, small businesses, and creatives who want to use On the Road Photography in their digital spaces, marketing, and physical locations — without resale rights.
It allows you to display images on your website, blog, landing pages, organic social media, email campaigns, and inside spaces like offices, studios, shops, or restaurants. You also have creative freedom to crop, overlay, or style the image as part of your brand storytelling.
The license includes perpetual, non-exclusive, worldwide rights — but does not allow resale, merchandise, paid advertising, or redistribution.
What sizes do your digital print files support?
Our digital files are high-resolution and professionally prepared to support large-format printing. Most files have been tested through WhiteWall and can print beautifully up to 48×32 inches — thanks to WhiteWall’s upscale processing and the clarity of our original image files.
We typically deliver images as full-resolution TIFFs or JPEGs, optimized at 300 DPI, and suitable for printing on fine art paper, canvas, acrylic, or metal.
Need help matching a specific image to your ideal size or material? Just reach out — we’ve tested these files and we’re happy to help you print with confidence.
Do you sell desktop and phone wallpapers?
Yes! Select images are available as downloadable digital wallpapers:
- Phone Wallpapers – optimized for modern smartphone screens
- Desktop Wallpapers – perfect for your home office or workspace
These are for personal use only, and not licensed for resale or publication.
How do I receive my digital download?
Once your purchase is complete, you'll receive a download link via email. Downloads are typically available immediately, and we recommend saving the file in a safe location for future use.
Can I print the image at a lab like WhiteWall?
Yes. With a Personal Use License, you are permitted to reproduce the image for private display only — which includes uploading it to a professional photo lab like WhiteWall to print it for your home, office, or as a gift.
This reproduction right is strictly for personal enjoyment. You may not resell the image, distribute it to others, or use it in any commercial context without an appropriate license.
Can I share or resell the file I purchase?
No — the file is licensed for use by the original purchaser only. You may not share, resell, or redistribute the file itself in any form.
If you’ve purchased a commercial license, you may use the image in business materials like websites, social media, ads, or print — but you still may not distribute the file or let others reuse it outside your brand or organization.
For resale or extended licensing rights, contact us to upgrade your license.

User License FAQ
Personal Use License
Usage and License Rights
Every digital file from On the Road Photography includes a specific license that outlines how the image can be used. Personal Use Licenses are for private enjoyment—like printing for your home, using it as a screensaver, or gifting a framed photo. Commercial Use Licenses are required when using the image for any business or promotional purpose. In both cases, the image cannot be resold, sublicensed, or redistributed.
Personal Gift vs. Client Gift
You’re welcome to print a digital file as a gift for a friend, family member, or loved one—that’s within the scope of personal use. However, gifting a print to a client, customer, or colleague as part of your business or brand promotion crosses into commercial use and requires a commercial license. The key difference isintent: if it's tied to your business in any way, it’s not personal use.
Use Case Example of Personal Use Rights
Let’s say you purchase a personal use license for a digital image of a lighthouse at sunset. You could:
- Print it at WhiteWall for your living room wall
- Set it as your laptop wallpaper
- Frame it and give it to your sister as a birthday gift
What you can’t do: - Use it in your company’s brochure
- Upload it to your website or social media as branded content
- Give it to a client as part of a paid design project
If your intended use includes clients, branding, or marketing, please see our Commercial License Rights for the appropriate license.
Personal Plus License
Personal Plus License FAQ
A Commercial Use License grants you the right to use the image in business, branding, or promotional contexts — including marketing campaigns, websites, blogs, social media, and print materials.
Your license includes:
- A full-resolution TIFF file optimized for printing
- A Standard Commercial License PDF outlining usage rights
- Perpetual, non-exclusive, global rights
This license is for use within your own business or brand. You may not resell, share, sublicense, or distribute the image file to others. The file may not be used in merchandise, templates, or apps for sale.
If you need usage beyond these rights (resale, mass production, product creation), just reach out — we offer extended and exclusive licensing options tailored to your needs.

- Using the image in paid advertising campaigns without an upgraded license
- Claiming the photography as your own creation
